The Story

“…IN SILENCE” – For me, silence is the purest state that my mind can access, when the internal dialogue ceases… when the mind is at peace.

This work, the second piece in the “Forbidden Fruit” series, encapsulates the journey I undertook to grant myself the freedom to paint once again.

It mirrors the internal conflict that plagued my mind for years. Despite knowing that art and painting were my greatest passions, due to limiting beliefs, fears, and self-sabotage, it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I committed fully to this path.

For a long time, I lived in a constant state of mental turmoil. There was something blocking me from painting, even though I yearned to. I kept telling myself: “I’ll start painting when everything is in order” – be it fulfilling daily responsibilities or completing obligations. In my mind at the time, art was something I could only allow myself to do once everything else was squared away.

It took me several years to dispel the belief that “Art is just a hobby and you can only enjoy it when you have fulfilled your responsibilities…” Even though I spent many years teaching children and young people about the Arts and loved it immensely, I denied myself the same joy. This led to great anxiety and personal frustration.

Confronting these limiting beliefs and internal demons through self-observation was no easy feat. That’s why the image in this piece, like the rest of the series, is of a naked body. A naked body is a vulnerable body, and delving into “my own hells” was necessary to connect with that vulnerability, allowing my desires to come to fruition.

I realized that the daily anxiety and frustration I felt were symptoms of an uncontrollable desire and need to create and paint. Creating and painting became as essential for me as eating or sleeping…

That’s when I found the long-awaited forbidden fruit: Silence. In art and painting, I discovered it.

It is important to avoid direct contact with sunlight. If you want to save the artwork, instead of having it exposed, it should be done in a drawer and protected with a tissue paper or any other soft paper.

If you exhibit the artwork in a room, it must be protected by glass or methacrylate with UV protection.

If you want to frame it, the materials must be acid free as well as the passepartout. If the frame is made of wood and is in direct contact with the photo, it must be made of natural wood and without varnish.

Adhesives must also be acid free. If not, any other adhesive could leave yellow marks and deteriorate the support.

The work should never be touched directly with the hands in order to avoid leaving traces of grease or moisture. You have to touch it with cotton gloves like the ones that we enclose inside the package.

Do not screw the photograph back on after it has been removed from the tube in case you have received it like that.

Store the work in a cool, dry place preferably at a room temperature between 10º and 30º with a relative humidity between 49% and 60%.

If you have acquired more than one photograph, they should never be touched between them since the surface is very sensitive. You should always put a tissue paper or, at least, another soft paper between the both of them.

Receive a thoughtful touch with every purchase – a pair of pristine white cotton gloves and a personalized postcard.

To ensure the safe delivery of your artwork, we take utmost care in packaging. Depending on the size, your piece will be shipped flat or rolled in a secure tube, carefully encased in bubble wrap for maximum protection.
