The story
The photograph “The Attack of Toxic Masculinity #2” is a powerful self-portrait that reflects women’s defiance of the pressure to give up their identity and autonomy to satisfy the male ego. Part of the “Attack of Toxic Masculinity” series, this photographic piece portrays the strength and resilience that women are forced to develop in the face of gender expectations imposed by society.
In this second image, the protagonist faces a man, who makes a disturbing request: “Could you diminish yourself so that I can feel good and feed my ego and my fragile masculinity?” To this request, the woman responds firmly, removing her glasses and responding with a resounding “NO.”
In this scene the artist invites the viewer to question the manipulation and abuse of power exercised by sexist men, for whom “couple” relationships actually mean relationships of “submission and service.”
